Marie Henriques designed the Christmas spoom in 1916 with Madonna and Child as the motif. Marie Henriques traveled extensively in Europe and North Africa. German and Spanish wooden figures from the Middle Ages captivated her sense of form, as evidenced by the Gothic Madonna and Child.
