This is a real fossilized armour segment from Glyptodon an extinct giant armadillo the size of a Volkswagen beetle! Dating back to the Pleistocene, these specimens were found in Florida. This segment measures ~3" wide! Unfortunately we are lacking the location data, as this came out of a large and old collection. It is suspected to be South American material.
